The Recapitulation with Caitlin Day 2: A beautiful day in the neighborhood

2/26/2015

Day number 1 of the ACDA National Convention was a success! The entire day was filled with the hustle and bustle of registration, hundreds of people moving from workshop to workshop, and inspiring performances from all ensembles. To top it all off, the weather was absolutely beautiful! Check out some of our pictures from our day today in Salt Lake City!

In the area of social media, our chapter's Twitter was on the ball today. We began our day with positive attitudes as we all made it through registration. Arriving early was a great idea, courtesy of our chapter president, Rebecca Saltzman. Once we sorted through our bags of ACDA goodies and collected our reading session materials, it was time to head to our various reading sessions.

In the reading sessions, we found that they were a great way to foster a sense of community among the attendees of the conference. That is one thing that we are trying to do as well through our social media. Throughout our entire day, we try to tweet open-ended questions to have other chapters share their experiences with the world of choral music. The National ACDA Twitter account is great at retweeting, favoriting, and even responding. It's great to feel like you are a part of something bigger, which is how we all feel here at the National Conference. The presenters of workshops also help foster this atmosphere. Dr. Jeremy Fox, presenter of the Circle-Singing Improvisation Workshop, reached out to us to thank us for our support at his workshop. How cool is that?!

To see our Twitter (@IthacaACDA) and Instagram (@ithaca.acda) accounts in action to experience the conference live from our point of view, please don't hesitate to follow us! You can also like us on Facebook (Ithaca College ACDA)! By doing this, you can see what we're up to as well as read our blog! Want to contribute your thoughts to our blog? Feel free to leave a comment! We are always open to your thoughts! I hope everyone gets a good night's rest! For tonight, that's a wrap on the Recap!
