Can you believe that we are already at the end of our third day here in Salt Lake City, Utah?! I don't know about all of you, but today was an absolutely amazing day. From meeting with composers, going to workshops, enjoying the company of so many talented musicians, to exploring the various cuisines of Salt Lake City, the IC ACDA chapter had a day to add to the books. We hope that all of you can say the same! Our chapter would also like to give Ithaca College's own, Dr. Derrick Fox, a shout out on an amazing workshop entitled "Fifty Shades of Grading: Assessment in the Choral Classroom." His workshop touched upon the various ways that we as educators can include assessment in our classroom without the grief and pain it brings us at times. He discussed how we can relate Bloom's Taxonomy into every lesson and assessment and gave examples on how to do so. Dr. Fox also included the audience in numerous ways which kept all of us engaged and energized about what was coming next. Kudos to you Dr. Fox, you never fail to amaze us! The choral love that can be felt here at the National ACDA Conference is without-a-doubt spectacular. Every person who is in attendance loves what they do and are willing to take the next step to better themselves in the field of choral music. This could be sharing music with us through concerts, presenting workshops, having meet-and-greets, or having a booth to share information with us. Sometimes, I think all of this is too good to be true and I need to pinch myself to remember that it's real! I can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store for us!
