![]() Only 19 days 'til Salt Lake! We're incredibly excited. Right now, we are currently in the process of finalizing the program for our "Fund for Tomorrow" benefit concert this Friday at 7 PM at Ithaca College (in the Clark Lounge in Campus Center)! It is the pinnacle of our student initiative project we launched this year. If you don't know what we're talking about, here's a quick summary: we realized that while there are many ACDA student chapters across the nation, they are largely disconnected. We decided to create this "student initiative" in order to unite the student chapters while raising money for a valuable cause! The "Fund for Tomorrow" is an ACDA fund that sponsors young students who might not have access to music programs, or provides mentors to new choral conductors in order to help them grow and develop to spread the gift of music. All the proceeds in the student chapters' concert series will be donated to this fund. We believe this student initiative is just the beginning of something amazing! We are learning a lot through this process and we hope to be able to continue developing and improving this initiative next year and the years after. We are very excited to have our own benefit concert coming up in just 2 days! Here is our second blogger for the conference, our President-Elect: Name: Sunhwa Reiner (many friends call me Sunny!) Year: Junior Involvement in ACDA: 3 years in ACDA, 2 years on the executive board of IC ACDA: 1 year as Treasurer, and this current year as President-Elect Favorite thing about choral music: I find that choral music can really resonate with people's souls. I believe it has to do with using the instrument that we were all born with for a greater purpose of inspiring and giving to others! One thing that you are excited about for Salt Lake City: It's so difficult to decide just one thing I'm excited for, since there is just an abundance of incredible opportunities all in one place! I'm super excited for the workshops and to expand my knowledge as an aspiring music educator, but I also cannot wait to listen to the incredible choirs that are lined up to sing. Of course the King's Singers, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and the Real Group to name a few -- but I am also excited to listen to the school choir groups and children's choirs (I am always so inspired by amazing choirs of younger children)!
