CELEBRATING THIRTY YEARS!
The Ithaca College Student Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association was founded in 1986 by Dr. Janet Galvan (Director of Choral Activities) and Dr. Carl Johengen (Assistant Professor of Performance Studies). The two attended the ACDA conference together in 1986, when Carl Johengen was a graduate student in choral conducting, and they discussed starting a chapter during the commute. Upon their return to Ithaca, Dr. Galvan began the paperwork to start a student chapter - founded and begun in the fall of 1986. Since then, IC ACDA has continued to grow under the leadership of advisor Dr. Janet Galvan. Over the past thirty years, our chapter has offered countless opportunities to young choral enthusiasts at Ithaca College and beyond through workshops, fundraising, travel, and service. We look forward to making more contributions to choral music as our chapter continues its work. Thank you to everyone who has supported our chapter thus far. Stay connected to see what the future holds for IC ACDA!
